Life truly does work in mysterious ways. Do you ever have something that you really want to do in the back of your mind but simply don't have the opportunity or time to do? That something was travelling for me. Although I’ve always envied my friends who were jetting from location to location, my previous job took too much of my personal time for me to be able to afford the luxury of travelling. Even though I’ve been a freelance blogger for two years now, I still had issues dedicating time to travelling until a few months ago when I started doing more press trips.
Since then, I’ve had the chance to travel and while I do absolutely love it, I find that packing can be a tad of a task especially for someone who likes avoiding the hassle of checking in a bag and prefers to just travel with a carry-on and a personal bag. It can be extra challenging when it comes down to skincare and beauty products since I can’t bring anything over 100ml and I can only bring as many products as my toiletry kit can fit. Thankfully, beauty brands are now becoming more aware of the time and space constraints that we are faced with and are coming up with products that are not only amazing on the skin but that also serve multiple purposes. In this blog post, I’d like to share some of my current favourite beauty products, new and old, that have been travelling with me recently.
Let’s start off with a longtime favourite: The Caudalie Beauty Elixir. I believe that by now, I must be on my fifth or sixth bottle of this miracle product. It is perfect for every skin type and after a couple of sprays, it fully refreshes your makeup. I use it as a setting spray substitute at times but mostly, I enjoy spraying it on because the scent never fails to awaken and calm me down at the same time. For a lack of better word, the Beauty Elixir is basically an aromatherapy session in a bottle and I cannot get enough of it. In a recent PR package, I received Caudalie’s Vinosource Moisturizing sorbet and I have been obsessed with it since. The texture is somewhere between a gel and a cream, feels lightweight yet super moisturizing and it smells incredible like every other product from the brand. The sorbet cream is formulated for sensitive skin and it makes for the perfect moisturizer to bring on a tropical getaway.
Of course, one irreplaceable product is a good eye cream. Guerlain’s Orchidée Impériale Eye and Lip contour cream contains chrono-response complex which adapts to the skin’s rhythms. In the morning, it targets under-eye puffiness and at night it helps to regenerate skin and it is also formulated to be used around the contour of your lips. Since I cannot travel with my full skincare regiment, I try to make sure that I clean my skin properly thanks to my Clarisonic Alpha Fit. The cleansing device helps to cleanse away impurities, makeup and sunscreen six times better than hands alone and it is super compact and lightweight. Just make sure to fully change it before your trip and you are good to go! (Unless you are leaving for over two weeks, then you should probably bring the charger with you).
The next product is one that I’ve been raving about to anyone who would listen for the past couple of weeks. It is no secret that YSL beauty is one of my favourite beauty brands and I have been using their blur primer for the longest time (though recently I have been cheating on it by using the YSL Instant Moisture glow instead. It gives you an amazing glow and can also double as a primer if needed). The brand recently came out with the Touche Eclat All-In-One Glow foundation which has rapidly replaced three other products in my routine. Containing a staggering 70% concentration of water essence, this foundation literally glides on the skin, leaving it looking healthy, moisturized and even. It also includes a primer and SPF 23 which makes it the perfect foundation to travel with. Since it is buildable, I can get away with bringing a concealer as I can apply a touch more on my problem areas to hide them. Of course, I also had to include the YSL Touche Eclat Radiant Touch pen. While it is often marketed as a concealer, I do find it a tad too sheer to serve that purpose. However, it makes for an amazing product to brighten up your skin in specific places to give you that highlighted look.
For those moments when I would still prefer to use a concealer, the Bare Minerals BarePro concealer comes in handy. The super creamy full coverage product is crease-proof, never fails to hide my shame and regrets and is super long lasting. One could also use a darker shade as a contour stick and the packaging is very travel-friendly. In order to apply and blend my makeup, I love using Bare Minerals’ luxe performance brush which was designed for the application of liquid foundation. The brush is dense yet super soft which makes it the perfect brush to blend with. Last but not least, I always travel with my trusted Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer powder which always helps with my oily spots and leaves my skin looking natural and glowy.
After packing my favourite fragrance (currently it is Elevator Music, the Byredo and OFF-WHITE collaboration fragrance), I am good to go! All those products managed to fit in my small travelling case and I have never had any issues with them at the airport security. How about you guys? What are some of your skincare/ beauty products that you cannot travel without?
