In my book, October is the best month of the year. It is the perfect time to cosy up to a nice cup of hot chocolate without freezing your ass off. The trees change their coats and colour palettes in unison and most of all, it is my birthday month. Yes this blog post is all about moi, moi, moi. And yes, I am joking. However it is about a birthday purchase I made that is also weather appropriate.

I have an undeniable love of jackets. Trench coats, Macintoshes, Varsity jackets, bomber jackets, kimonos. Name one and I probably have a version of it in my wardrobe. However there is one staple piece that I didn’t have until now: A leather Moto jacket. I have always been very picky with the leather goods I purchase. Some are too thick, which make you seem far bigger than you should be and others are so thin that you might as well wear a wind breaker to keep you warm.

Splurging on my birthday present cause you gotta treat yourself!

Keeping it Classic with black.

For the longest time, I’ve had my eyes set on a version from Swedish design label ACNE studios but found it hard to justify price wise. Hence why it ended up becoming my birthday present this year. In reality, a good leather or shearling jacket will always cost you a pretty penny, but they are pieces that are worth investing in. Good leather ages well with each scratch and discolouration brings personality to the jacket. If you pick the right piece, you’ll have yourself a life long companion.
