Growing up, I remember watching my mother doing her skincare routine. She always had perfect skin and rarely ever wore more than a lipstick, some mascara and a touch of blush. It turns out that my mother and I had the same policy when it comes down to your face: make sure to treat your skin properly and you won’t need to put on very much to cover it. As such, I tend to spend most of my days au naturel even though I love experimenting with make up from time to time. However, I’ll always leave the house with a touch of highlighter to boost up my glow. Today on the blog, I am talking about three highlighting products that I have been obsessed with lately.
Marc Jacobs Beauty Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter
As it turns out, Marc Jacobs adores coconut water and he has made that pretty clear with the abundant use of the ingredient in his eponymous beauty line. I recently discovered his Dew Drops Coconut Gel highlighter and I am completely obsessed with it. Once applied on the skin, Dew Drops turns you into a glowing, youthful sprite with the lightest tan. The coconut water deeply hydrates and nourishes your skin and it applies beautifully with a brush or fingers. While you can use Dew Drops on its own, I noticed that it made my face glow a bit too much (yes, there is such a thing as too much glow). It works wonderfully when mixed to your primer or foundation but I personally love adding it to my moisturizer. Mixing the product also has the added benefit of cancelling out the coconut scent if you’re not very keen on it plus it makes for a seamless and very natural look.

Fenty Beauty Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter Duo
Rihanna took the world by storm when she first released her 50 shade foundation range back in 2017. Since then, the singer’s brand has been setting new standards in the world of beauty. While she is most known for her Pro Filt’R foundation, she is also wildly acclaimed for her highlighter range with the iconic and unapologetic Trophy Wife dazzling the world. There’s a huge variety of colours in her highlighter range and my favourite is the newest addition to the line: The Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter Duo in shades Afternoon Snack and Mo’ Hunny. The duo has a bronzed champagne tone which is perfect on tan skin (Mean Honey/ Hu$tla Baby would be suitable when I don’t have a tan) and it could almost pass for a blush/ highlighter combo. This new duo is definitely meant for a more subdued look but still gives you enough glow to make your skin look extra healthy. In order to balance out the highlighter, you might want to apply some bonzer as well and I absolutely love her Sun Stalk’R Instant Warmth Bronzer in the shade Private island. If you’re already at Sephora, do yourself a favour and also check out her brushes: you won’t regret it.

Jeffree Star Cosmetics Skin Frost
Fans of Youtube beauty reviews all know Jeffree Star by now. The MySpace celebrity/ singer/ Youtuber also happens to be the owner of one of the most exciting cosmetic brands out there. His line is not meant for the faint of heart. Jeffree is obsessed with highly pigmented cosmetics and that is exactly what he delivers with the Jeffree Star Cosmetics Skinfrost. Saying that his highlighters are blinding would be an understatement. While I usually go in on my palettes, I have to be very careful with SkinFrost (in shade Peach Goddess) because if you forget to tap your brush after dipping it in, you might actually blind someone. It is one of my favourite highlighters that I’ve ever used and the pan is huge so it is sure to last for quite a while.

Of course there are many more amazing products out on the market but those are my three personal favourites. However, don’t forget that you can also achieve glowing skin by exercising, drinking lots of water, eating properly and having plenty of sleep. It is all about finding the right balance and combination for you.
