Mont Tremblant and Armani's Acqua Di Gio Absolu by Didier Young

When Giorgio Armani decided to launch his first cologne Acqua Di Gio close to twenty years ago, the designer knew that he was taking a big risk. After all, he was the face of a brand known for its apparel and this first foray into beauty could either become a stepping stone or be a major flop. Luckily for him, Acqua di Gio turned out to be a massive commercial success and it is still the leading men’s fragrance on the market nowadays. To celebrate the launch of Acqua Di Gio Absolu, I was lucky enough to be invited to partake in a sensory experience in Mont Tremblant, Québec.

Canadian Opera Company: Anna Bolena by Didier Young

A few months ago, I attended my very first opera at the Four Seasons Center for the Performing Arts and I had such a lovely time that I was looking forward to my next excursion to the gorgeous building. Little did I know that it would happen sooner than later and last week, we headed there once again for the opening night of the Canadian Opera Company’s production of Donizetti’s Anna Bolena.

Personal Grooming and Shoppers Drug Mart Pop-Up by Didier Young

When it comes down to attraction, we all find different traits appealing. Some of us prefer blondes while others love brunettes. We may like our significant other to be serious and smart or a complete goofball. However there is one thing that we can agree on: being well groomed is definitely sexy. Since moving to Canada, Shoppers Drug Mart has been my go-to destination for my grooming products, whether it’s shampoo or skincare and I was excited to check out what new arrivals they have in store at the pop-up that they held this week.

A Night at the Opera by Didier Young

The poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow once said that “Music is the universal language of mankind.” There is something sublimely intriguing about music and its ability to convey emotions, whether you understand the language being sung or not. I grew up during the Disney Renaissance Age where music was a focal point of every one of their movies and, as such, I grew to love musical theatre. However, I surprisingly never managed to attend an opera performance until last week.

Canadian Open (Rogers Cup Presented by National Bank) with Peroni by Didier Young

I have never been one with much of an interest for sports. I have partaken in some of them, mostly because I was required to do so in high school as part of the curriculum. While I did understand the basics of most of them, I simply didn't understand the need or the passion that some people get out of sports. However, I will admit that there is one sport that managed to capture my interest: tennis.

Resolutions by Didier Young

New year, New me. As we bid adieu to a very interesting 2016, we partake into another big cultural tradition: New Year resolutions. Each January, we choose some goals we would love to achieve throughout the year and we try our best to adhere to them. As a global community being influenced by the same social pressures and beliefs, we do tend to have a somewhat mainstream list of goals we would like to tick off our check lists. However, how realistic are the goals we set and how likely are we to achieve them?

Winter Village by Didier Young

I am your father. You had me at Hello. I’m gonna make him an offer he won’t refuse. Movies and televisions shows have often been a source of popular culture quotes that transcended time. Each generation of viewers end up adapting their own jargon to the movies of the moment. I remember when Mean Girls came out and everyone could quote the entirety of the movie. To this date, I can still quote parts of it. Isn’t it fetch? In my everyday life, I make a lot of references to such quotes and yesterday I got to use one of my favourite ones from Gilmore Girls. I smell snow.

One of a Kind Online Shop by Didier Young

Tis the season to be shopping. It is mid-November and it once again this time of the year when we all have to wave our magic wands and somehow conjure up the perfect present: One that is personal, unique, pretty, within a specific price range and that your special ones have not purchased for themselves yet. It is becoming increasingly hard in this highly consumption centric society to find such a rare gem. Sometimes it feels like it would be easier to find a needle in a hay stack. Thankfully we have wonderful shows like the One of a Kind Show and its online shop.

Started in 1976, The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) is an annual event that showcases some of the best movies in the world. Over the years, the festival has become a pilgrimage for movie fanatics, attracting over 480,000 people to the city yearly.
