It already started snowing and the temperatures have dropped below 0C in Toronto so I think that it is safe to say that fall is over and that we have now fully entered winter. I know that a lot of people dread the winter months but there are definitely some pros to the season. It is super festive with the beginning of the holiday season, it’s a great reason to drink hot cocoa spiked with baileys and mulled wine and it is also kicked off by a Sephora Beauty Insider event this year. For avid shoppers of the beauty store, that means that you’ll end up having a lovely little discount (20% for Rouge, 15% for VIB and 10% for Insiders) added to your purchases. As such, it is a great time to treat yourself with some goodies that you’ve been meaning to try out, restock or even start your Christmas shopping early. Without further ado, I’m going to share some of the must-have items that I am adding to my cart this year.
Let’s start with the beloved products that I will be restocking. I think that it is a no brainer that my very first item was Estée Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex II. I talk about that serum over and over again and it truly is still my favourite night serum to date (it is also fantastic to dilute your foundation if you want it to be sheerer with the added benefits of the skincare product as well). I will also be adding the brand’s Advanced Night Repair Concentrate Recovery Powerfoil mask to my cart as I just finished my very last pack of the sheet mask and it truly is life changing. I do not currently need more of the Dior BACKSTAGE Face & body foundation or the Dior BACKSTAGE Glow Face Palette but I definitely would restock if I was running low right now. I find that the BACKSTAGE collection products leave your skin looking so radiant and natural looking that they are truly the perfect everyday makeup products to use.
In terms of new products from Sephora, there isn’t currently very much that I want and haven’t tried before. However Tom Ford makes some gorgeous fragrances and he just released a brand new one called Soleil Neige. With notes of Bergamot, Jasmine and Benzoin, it is an interest fall/winter release that definitely differs from most of the other releases of the season so I am pretty curious to try it. I will also be adding Pat McGrath Lab’s ChromaLuxe Hi-Lite Cream highlighter to my cart. Pat is such a legend in the makeup industry and I have heard so many amazing things about her makeup line that I am really looking forward to giving this a try. The highlighter comes in two different shades but I have a feeling that the pale gold one is more my jam than the blue highlighter. In terms of skincare, Summer Fridays just released their first serum! The CC Me Vitamin C serum promises to help with dullness and uneven texture, dark spots, fine lines and wrinkles which would be perfect for the winter months. I’ve used their Jet Lag mask quite religiously and it is one of my favourite hydrating masks on the market so I definitely can’t wait to try out their first foray into serums.
Of course, some of the most exciting releases of the season are the gift sets! Those always make for great gifts but they are also the purchases where you’ll get the most value for your buck. For the bold people in your life who can rock a red lipstick, the Dior Rouge Dior lipstick mini set would be the fantastic present. Dior makes some gorgeous reds and their lipsticks are super comfortable and long wearing! If you’re planning on gifting to someone who loves nude tones better, the Morphe X Jeffree Star nude 5-piece mini lip collection would be your best bet. You may love or hate Jeffree but there is no denying that his makeup brand is absolutely fantastic and these lippies are no exception. We are going to keep this lip theme going with the LANEIGE Kiss me at Midnight gift set. Their lip sleeping masks are some of my favourites out there (if you have the chance to get your hands on the vanilla version, do it!) and this set includes the full size original version along with two holiday exclusives: Mint choco and Sweet Candy. Last but not least, I have been LOVING the Glow Recipe Watermelon glow sleeping mask and Blueberry bounce gentle cleanser later, so the Let it Glow gift set is definitely a must have for me! It includes the two aforementioned products along with the Watermelon glow Pink juice moisturizer. Trust me, you will have a hard time not wanting to eat your skincare.
That concludes the list of goodies that I will be purchasing during the Beauty Insider event (I had to close the website otherwise I would keep adding more and it would be bye bye to my bank account). There are so many amazing products at Sephora that it’s hard not to want to put the whole store in your cart but those are the curated products that I felt I wanted to spend my money on. Did you guys check out the event and have you made some damage already?
